Hi! I just finished reading The Raw Shark Texts about ten minutes ago. One quick Google search later, I found this community. So I thought I'd say hello and introduce myself!
My name is Gavin and, yes, I got a kick out of sharing the same name as Eric and Clio's alleged second cat. I live in Baltimore, Maryland and received a copy of the book as a gift on my birthday last month. I only got into reading it recently and spent the better part of yesterday afternoon working my way through the second half. It was a gorgeous day here, so I went out to the park to read. I was so engrossed in my reading that I didn't realize I was getting sunburned until I returned home in the evening and caught a glimpse of my reflection in the bathroom mirror. If that's not the mark of someone deeply entertained, I'm not sure what is.
What a terrific novel, let alone first novel! It's definitely the kind of story that will stick with me for weeks. It's nice to get acquainted with your writing, Steven! And I think it's wonderful that you're also so involved here on your own site.
I look forward to chatting with everybody here!

Hi Gavin,
Welcome to the forums, hope you enjoy exploring.
Thanks for the kind words, great to hear you enjoyed Raw Shark so much – sorry about the sunburn! Maybe I should try to have the next book released in autumn or winter.
Gavin’s a great name, btw. And rest assured we'll be meeting your feline namesake at some point in the future...

Steven Hall, you simply HAVE to be thoroughly entertained by the enthusiasm on here! I was thinking earlier of the man who houses the thoughts and ideas that came to be the Raw Shark Texts... and for him to know "the answers" while watching so many others scramble to find them! It makes me chuckle.
