"Argleton, a 'phantom town' in Lancashire that appears on Google Maps and online directories but doesn't actually exist, has puzzled internet experts.
Google and the company that supplies its mapping data are unable to explain the presence of the phantom town and are investigating..."

I thought of you the minute I read that story.
I think argleton is a conceptual village... or lies deep underneath the ground, if you go through a book shelf in a nearby book store. ;)

I love what the uni lecturer says in the article:

"I started to weave this amazing fantasy about the place, an alternative universe, a Narnia-like world. I was really fascinated by the appearance of a non-existent place that the internet had the power to make real and give a semi-existence."

and I love that he physically went there, to see if he could find the place.
It isn't so far from me. I might go too...

Wow! That's crazy. Hope you don't take Platform 3 to get there... There always seems to be two Platform 3's, and the one that is obvious is never the one you need.

Neverwas was fun.

I think I might have a new place to put down as a fake address when the need arises, as it sometimes does from time to time.
