if you liked TRST then you should probably read doug hofstadter's book, 'I Am A Strange Loop'. it was published the SAME year as TRST--one of THEM coincidences, if you ask me. its major theme is that the brain is a computer and our 'self/consciousness' is just a high order SOFTWARE illusion running in it. the food for thought is: what OTHER programs are running in there (besides ME) that i'm UNaware of. this phenomenon is referred to in the letter from the red cabinet in the fifth paragraph. and anyone who's studied the work of aleister crowley will also be aware of the effect. it's like a literary download of his personality into the desktop of your consciousness--which is why you have to be careful about exactly WHAT you feed your head. you could come down with a bad case of psyche salmonella.

The Raw Shark Texts is the debut novel by author Steven Hall, released in 2007.[1] The book was released by Canon-gate Books in the US and the UK and published by Harper Collins in Canada. The title is a play on "Rorschach Tests", which are inkblot tests.
