Just had a dream about reading The Raw Shark Texts.
I was starting a new class, it was a literature class, and we were going to be reading several books over the semester. I entered the class, it was rather small, and there were no desks, only small couches and overstuffed chairs aligning the walls. I was sitting on a couch made for two people, I think they call them love seats, very little space was left in the class, although there were only a few other people, maybe ten or so. A girl entered and looked at one of the larger couches and I can see she was pondering squeezing in there. She must have changed her mind because she plopped down next to me. I had my arm across the back of the couch but it didn't seem to bother her as she just leaned right up against me. She reminded me of Scout.
The teacher entered, a young lady, brown hair, slender, flower print skirt. She sits at her desk which seems to be the only relatively normal piece of classroom furniture and begins listing off the books we will be reading, "The Raw Shark Texts by Steven Hall, ...., ...., .... ." The others on the list got lost as my mind grinned at itself thinking this will be fun.
The teacher hands out copies of Raw Shark to everyone and we start going round the room, each reading a page. None of what the other students were reading even remotely sounded like Raw Shark does. It got to be my turn and looking at the page, it was a cross between a Charlie Brown comic and something else I couldn't quite put my finger on. It sounded nothing like a Charlie Brown comic. Mostly gibberish I think, but the gibberish seemed strange. Every sentence, if you can call them that, seemed to come in two parts. The second half of each sentence seemed to be a mirror or negative of the first half of the sentence. I made it through my page, getting screwed up and reading the wrong parts a few times, which is typical. I do not speak well sometimes in front of groups of people. The girl sitting next to me would smile at me when ever I got confused and point out politely where I was supposed to be reading.
When I was done reading the page I thought about mentioning the thing about the sentence structure or that Steven Hall had a website online where he was pretty active about interacting with his readers, but I was kind of sleepy, so I thought it could wait until later. I fell asleep on the couch.
That's when I woke up.

I had a dream about TRST, but your sounds so much more intense so i'm a little embarrassed about mine now. What i can say is that your dream seems to be one of the most intriguing things i've heard in a VERY long time. That echo sentence thing is really strange. I don't suppose you could conjure up an example, could you? But you mentioned how the gibberish was nothing like a Charlie Brown comic? What about the muffling teacher? Thats the first thing i thought of :P

No not quite like the muffling teacher because I could see letters on the page, they were just all scrambled up. I'm not quite sure how to describe the negative aspect of the sentences. Since it was all just scrambled letters, I think it was more of just an impression that they were. I mean I can picture it how they could have been now, maybe stresses in different places in the first half opposed to the second half, but I can't say for sure now. Too many of the details have already faded.
What was your dream about?

Well, it was quite unimpressive compared to what yours was. I was in Greece, in a hospital. Quite a small hospital actually. And i was walking around the psych ward, and i noticed a pair of thick socks sticking out from behind a curtain. Well, actually the whole bottom half of the bed was sticking out, including the curious socks. SO i look at the clipboard, wondering who it was, and lo and behold it was Eric Sanderson. So i go to talk to him, and i was saying "Oh eric i'm so sorry about what happened." and he was all "What? Where am i? Where's Clio? I want to talk to Clio." And i was the one who had to break the news to him. He remembered who he was, who Clio was and everything like that, but all of Greece was forgotten (which doesn't make much sense, according to the Aquarium fragment :S). It was basically just an early recurrence of his memory loss, one of the first ones. This was like, half a year ago, so i don't really remember EXACTLY how it happened, but thats the gist of it.

That sounds pretty cool actually. You dreamt you were in the back story. :D
