Just wanted to create a place for the discussion of the contents of conceptual fish and other word-based images.

We've already taken a look at some conceptual fish and their contents in the A Progressive Documentation of Everything with this:

iii. part three (page 373)

As well as Skitch929's findings:

Quote:
When the Ludovician first attacks Eric in his living room (pg 58), the first image we see of the shark is through the TV. This is the portion where all the "Storr" names appear, but the words at the far left of the bottom few lines (in bold) read: "___ged and whined and mechanically coughed up printed pages from my ___." When I first read the book I thought nothing of this, I figured it was all just jumbled nonsense words to help form the image of the shark. Even after I finished the story and had a much better understanding of what was going on, this didn't stick out to me. It wasn't until I was discussing the story with my girlfriend that I returned to page 58 and noticed that the bold text almost mirrors text from page 320:

"I sat cross-legged on the deck next to the printer, watching it chug and whine and mechanically cough up pages from my story..."

There are a lot of names and characters mentioned in conceptual fish, such as in the Ludo's first attack (again found in APDoE)

There's a lot more to track down and find, so it can be collected here. (and then probably added to the Documentation of Everything)

The second conceptual fish in the Aquarium Fragment made me curious:

I looked up the turner prize (which I'd never heard of):

Wikipedia wrote:
The Turner Prize, named after the painter J.M.W. Turner, is an annual prize presented to a British visual artist under the age of 50. Awarding the prize is organised by the Tate gallery and staged at Tate Britain. Since its beginnings in 1984 it has become the United Kingdom's most publicised art award. It has become associated with conceptual art, although it represents all media; painters have also won the prize.

As of 2004, the monetary award was established at £40,000. There have been different sponsors, including Channel 4 television and Gordon's Gin.

and tried to find some relation to red paint (also found in the above mentioned fish)), and found this: 'Comedian' is jailed for Turner Prize paint attack, in which Aaron Barschak "hurled a pot of red paint at Jake Chapman and a painting by him and his brother Dinos at the Museum of Modern Art in Oxford."
And the Chapmans are apparently, conceptual artists (according to wikipedia!)
