I posted the following on Twitter a little while ago & thought it really should be here too...

One of the following statements about my second book is true:

1) The novel is set in 1854
2) The novel is set in 2054

I have a few thoughts on this:
Characters from TRST will appear in this book.
Mycroft Ward is from the middle of the 19th century, and thus 1854 might be a posibility.
However, "he" might've just as well lived on to the middle of the 21st century...

But in the blog post from febuary Steven also writes that historical characters will appear... and I don't know that many historical characters from 2054 ;)

However, With the Hula Hoops, Circles, the verse about gates in the bible, maybe there's some time traveling going on, bringing historical and TRST characters into the future...

Those are my first thoughts about this...

I think it's a trick question...
My bet is that it's set in both :P
But, if I had to choose one, i'd wish it was set in 1854

p.s. Steven, please update more here! I'm not on the twitter bandwagon so I'm missing all of these exciting advancements!! We love you here! Please come back!!!!

Another (minor) twitter update:

"Today's writing includes the phrase "dentistical-looking implements."

There's seriously something about cats and authors of awesome books. House of leaves: a bunch of cats. Raw shark texts: an awesome cat and a lost (?) one. The Familiar: Seems to be all about cats. Kafka on the shore: Some cat stuff there as well. Hula Hoop: Obviously something cat-y!
