As it's part of a larger project, I can't release the code, but I can certainly chat about the method in general. It's a image processing algorithm that maps, for example, rgb layers to a sort of 5-D surface data set that gets analyzed for content and intensity/weights/size/vanishing point/ apparent height etc. Basically if the content at a given location is "interesting" then the algorithm passes a note to the text engine to "make the letters in that region interesting." For example, if you look at the higher res version, you can tell the difference when the height info is accentuated.
