One of the chapters entitled "It's a poor sort of memory that only works backwards," is named for a quote from Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking Glass.

Also this may just be me, but everytime I read the name Mycroft Ward somewhere in my mind I thought of Microsoft Word.

"It's a poor sort of memory that only works backwards."
